Welcome to my official website. I am a Chinese-Canadian music composer, violinist and visual artist from Vancouver, BC. I create through my passion from music to burlesque to the neurodiversity movement where we celebrate ourselves and embrace our identity.

This is also a dedication to the community that helped shape throughout history. I used the time during the COVID-19 pandemic to photograph the current trends of today's city. BIOGRAPHY
Life of Georgia Couver
Born in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Couver has pursued in music performance for violin at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC. Next she attended for her Bachelor's Degree of Applied Music in Music Composition at Vancouver Community College from September 2015 to 2018. She has written compositions workshop after workshop, such as the 2016 Plastic Acid Graphic Score, the Jean Coulthard String Quartet session in 2018 and also the Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra. In 2019-2022, she has written music for short film projects, burlesque productions and many more in the Vancouver arts community, from short film Purgamentum to Secrets From the Shadows at the Fox Cabaret and Mishka Lavigne's Haven at the United Players theatre in Vancouver. Prior to her completion of the Bachelor's program, she has taken violin exams at the age of 8, then pursued in both visual arts and Music Composition. Now, she is currently based in London, England for her pursuit in a Master's Music Composition Program at Goldsmiths University, getting her hands covered in graphite and writing her way to the stars

VIOLIN TEACHER

I teach my students basic techniques of violin performance from music theory to proper posture to recommendation of exercise studies while learning to understand the minds of each individual.

COMPOSER
September 2014 - Present
I have attended at Douglas College for the University Transfer Music Diploma program in New Westminster. Then, I continued my education in music composition at Vancouver Community College in September 2016 and completed the Bachelor's Degree of Applied Music program in June 2018. I have attended workshops, such as the Plastic Acid Graphic Score workshop in 2016, the Jean Coulthard String Quartet Reading session in 2018 and also the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra Summer Academy 2018. Furthermore, I held my very first concert at the St.Luke and Matthias Anglican Church in West Vancouver on November 2016.

I created original music for Strange Seductions' Burlesque production, Secrets From the Shadow at the Fox Cabaret in a modern queer adaptation of Hades and Persephone, along with musical covers by a live band and also lead a musical ensemble

STUDENT RESEARCHER

A 9 week summer occupation led by Brian Fraser of the Brentwood Presbyterian Church in Burnaby, BC, where we conduct interviews with musicians, congregations and also ministers about Jazz and spirituality
VIOLINIST
2003 - Present
I have performed and competed in the British Columbia Conservatory of Music festivals, as well as the Stewart Irish Dance Fiddle Competition back in 2007. I have performed in orchestra ensembles, such as the New Westminster Symphony, West Coast Symphony, and the Surrey Youth Orchestra. As for contemporary bands, I have played with the Rusty Buckets, a jazz-inspired swing dance ensemble influenced by the 1940s and 1950s of jazz music, and also the Legion of the Flying Monkeys.

Meanwhile, I have performed for Strange Seduction's burlesque production Secrets from the Shadows on September 28 and October 5 2019 at the Fox cabaret as a composer and violinist

I have performed in orchestras from the Surrey Youth Orchestra to the New Westminster symphony to West Coast Symphony.

I performed as a violinist for the Red Priest at the Jericho Arts Centre back in 2021 directed by Keltie Forsythe

I advise on creating accessible resource, along with a team of other advisors around the province, as funded by the psychology professors of York University as part of the two year long process to collect available information about mental health in the Autism community
